Is squatting everyday a necessary or a good idea ? I guess you could figure age and recovery ability into the mix but a manual laborer trains everyday right? I would imagine it can be worked up to. Brandon

Necessary, no. Can it be effective? Yes, but you have to ask and answer that question with a specific athlete in mind. If the athlete is conditioned to high frequency training, it can work very well. If he/she isn't, it can be counterproductive. Also keep in mind that squatting every day doesn't necessarily imply any certain intensity. Squatting 80-90%+ every other day and 60% on days in between is completely different than squatting to a max daily, for example.

And yes, if you wanted to try it, work up to it gradually and you'll be able to tolerate it. If you jump in 100% right away, you'll likely just feel destroyed and have to back off.
