Lots of fun, but I can't remember any damn numbers exactly.

Open Stone: Something like 29'6" Third or fourth

Heavyweight for distance: 24'1" for the first place

LWD: 44'6" or something....third or fourth.

Heavy Scottish Hammer: 65' something: 3rd or 4th

Caber: 1 pick, no turn, by far the worst I did. If I would have turned a caber, I would have taken first.

WOB: I hit 14', missed 15'...I had thought it was 13' missing 14', but they had measured wrong and had to add a foot to all distances.

I took a few fun throws on the sheaf, but nothing counted and I don't remember how high it was.

Took 3rd overall. I was quite pleased. Pics up sometime early next week.

Steve, I can help you here. Come down and we can work on this stuff. That is very good numbers, but you can go much much farther...

I've only seen a couple of games but I think it's a great test of real strength, vs. gym strength. Congrats!

Steve, we have the HG hammers, all the weights, shots...you name it. We also just picked up some very interesting new toys, too...

How long are you down, Dan? I've got the boys until Friday, but might be able to swing a road trip with them in tow.

Two weeks. Rosey is here, too, so it could be a P and B reunion...

Dan, if you're carrying your cell, or Mikey is, PM me a number and I'll call you up tomorrow sometime.

Aside from that, here are a few pics of this stuff:

And no wisecracks about my fondness for non-paleo and the apparent resistance I have to fat loss via an IF.

Because, I had only had a protein shake, coffee, and a banana to fuel the entire day (lots of water), and was going strong. I bonked hard after about 19 maximal throws of that damn WOB (which was the last event). 1-19 were strong, 20 and I was broken out into a complete sweat, and 21 showed a noticable decrease in my throwing height.

Where did you get the kilt from? Did they let you rent/ borrow it? There is a HG in IA that I am contemplating about participating in.

Thanks

I got my kilt from Stillwater Kilts, who did an absolute awesome job in shipping it quickly. I'd recommend them. Sportkilt is another company.

A low end kilt is going to run about $45 at Stillwater. I went up the next level and spent $80, but I should get some good use out of it.

What, no mention of the whiskey? Ale?
What kind of highland games were these?

We drank some Busch Lite Draft out of 22oz cans starting during the WOB. The throwers tell me sometimes it's a drinking games, and sometimes it's not.

Third place for someone who

did some throwing with the Master of the House of Hurt, Kip Miller, at his place, so I won't look like a total dick.

is pretty impressive.

It just basically so happened that I had the strength and power to perform the heavier throws surprisingly well.

You guys spare no expense. But, I imagine it was quite warm and humid, so something light and cold would do the trick.

I've got to give these a go sometime even though I'd just embarrass myself. . .badly.
