Potential Bad news:

"He suspects that fasting helps because it dampens the bodyís immune system, causing fewer overzealous immune cells to reach the site of spinal injury."

(could be good news for allergy sufferers)

Good news:

"Calorie restriction appears to make the cells in the spinal cord more sensitive to growth-promoting proteins, Plunet adds."

Other research has shown dramatic increases in BDNF- Brain Derived Neurotrophic factors...they cause the non-differentiated stem cells in the CNS to fill in the gaps of damaged, diseased cells. In another paper it is postulated that overfeeding burns through our stem cells too quickly. Once we run out, we see the sharp decline and fun stuff like Alzheimerís, Parkinsonís etc. Good find Scotty!
