View Full Version : Early Morning Workout

In order to be safe, what should be some guidelines to behold with early morning training? The workout will involve lifting weights, sprints, sandbag runs, and other strongman stuff. I know it is not a preferable to lift this early for sake of one's back, but if there are nother choices....

Wake-up time would be 5:00 a.m., with the workout starting around 5:45.

Actually the research I've read in Stuart McGill's book just says not to do back exercises until you've been up for an hour... So just get up 15 minutes earlier.

What Yael said, plus make sure you're not just awake and sitting on a couch, but moving around to make sure you squish the excess fluid out of your discs so they don't pop like an overfull water balloon. I'm exaggerating...but don't just sit on your can before lifting heavy. Beware of creep. McGill is the man.

There are also some cardiac issues with intense exercise that soon upon awakening, I believe.
