I need some collars for my Pendlay bar. What are some good collars? Or does it really matter as long as the aren't spring collars.

I got the muscle clamp collars, I like them. They are mostly plastic.

I rarely use collars, for the olympic lifts they are not really necessary, unless you have a big stack of plates left and right---then it may happen, during some triple snatches or clean & jerks that you loose one of the plates. But even here spring collars usually work just fine... Any used collars work fine too. If you buy new, Ivanko collars, for example these (http://www.ivanko.com/products/prd_text/CO25.html) are a good buy. Very sturdy and they really hold the plates in place, which is not a given with cheap collars...

We use the plastic Muscle Clamps at Rogue. I really like them. Not exactly the sturdiest things, then again, we have also used them all over including many park workouts in all kinds of conditions (freezing to 100+degrees, rain, snow , etc.) They have held up great, considering they will still hold repeated overhead drops with 200+lbs on a Pendlay bar. They are so easy to slip on and off that there really isn't a reason not to use them.
