I just wanted to pass along what I think is a great story (personal bias aside). I coach youth baseball for my 11 year old son (plays baseball as a 10 because of his birthday) in our home town of ~5,000 people. Our league is made up of ~250 kids from ages 5 - 12. Each year we put toghether all star teams for 9-10 year olds and 11 - 12 year olds. This year, our 9 - 10 team entered four local tournaments including a 20 team tournament that hosted towns from all over Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island with populations up to ~90,000 and leagues of over 1,000 kids. Our record for the summer was 22 - 2 and we won all four of the tournaments that we entered. Not bad for a little town we affectionately call Mayberry.

In the final tournamant over the past two weekends (the 20 team tournament) we lost our second game and had to battle back out of the losers bracket (double elimination format). We played and won six gams this weekend including two consecutive games against the undefeated team from the winners bracket to win the championship.

On top of all this, my son was named to the all tournament team. Over the two weekends and 8 games we played, he batted over .500, pitched 13 innings with 18 strikeouts and made some great plays at 1st base.

As the title says, I am a very proud dad (and coach). This was by far the best group of kids I have had the pleasure to coach. When I get a digital copy of the team photo, I'll post it.

Thanks for letting my brag a bit....

It's not bragging when you are the dad!

Times like that, IMHO, are some of the best in the world. Enjoy them.
