Been training in olympic weightlifting on and off since April of last year. Training out of Lost Battalion Hall, NYC. Yoon and John are gay bend-over buddies.

benchmarks as of today:
Bodyweight: 72.7 kg
Snatch: 80 kgs
C&J: 105
FS: 90 (max for 5)
BS: 115 (max for 5)

Right now, I'm 10 lbs lighter than my usual weight...just rediscovered cycling (former delivery worker), and have been doing way too much of it as of recent. I have snatched 70 kilos for an easy triple, and c& power jerked 90 for an easy double, so i'm sure that i have a little bit more in the tank. Next three weeks, going to focus on regaining some of that lost weight.

Last Workout (8/8/07):

Clean and Jerk- 60 kg x2 (one Power Jerk, one split jerk), 70x2, 80x2, 85 x 4 singles (felt weak)

"Litvisled"- 60 kilo front squat x8 followed immediately by 250 lb sled push for 100 ft. 4 rounds for time (didn't have a stopwatch)

I'm glad so many people are turned on by me, especially yoon, that sexy sexy sexy bastard.

Anyway. Bit exhausted today. Spent all of yesterday outdoors at a state park; had to deal with dozens of children, all of whom's favorite activity was beating me till i either "kettlebell swung" them above my head or i put them on my shoulder and sprinted them up a hill. Good gpp workout, but it knocked the shit out of me. So went really light today.

AM workout
Clean complexes (1 power clean, squat clean from hang, 3 front squats)- 60kg , 70X4

PM workout
Snatch complexes (1 snatch, snatch from hang, one btn push press, 2 overhead squats) 50 kg x 5

I'm not extending enough on my second pull on the clean; not pulling myself under the bar and keeping it close on the snatch. things to work on.

Sporadic biking throughout the day. probably 10-15 miles in total.

I'm starting to feel a little better, but something tells me that I should lay off totally from any kind of activity for the whole week. My resting heart rate right now is 78 bpm, which is pretty damn high for a day of rest. I think i've been doing too much of everything lately and i've been feeling really weak for a good while. not giving myself time to rest. If anyone's reading this, tell me if i'm just being a bitch.

At least I know that I need to also prioritize building up my work capacity.

I took 10 days off from everything sans walking like more than I have in months and coming back was a major bitch. Strength down. Technique and form out the window. Flexibility lacking. The last is probably the worst of the 3; hips and hams have been killing me and it's definitely effecting my form.

Not exactly the heaviest workout ever, but the best technique i've used in a good while.

I think my technique in the pulls is really off. Seems like i'm coming up on my toes much too quickly and not finishing off the pull quick enough

Must start squatting again soon. I haven't had access to a squat rack in awhile

Nah, seriously I think you just need to try your best to get back on a regular schedule with the lifting (maybe 2-3 times a week). Make that your foundation...throw in fun stuff as you see fit, but don't compromise your recovery too much, especially if it's a 'heavy' week. If you can't make it out to LBH, then just do squats, pulls, and presses somewhere else.

Questions: it wasn't long ago your max snatch was like 60kg or something, I think. The next thing I know, you're up to 80 real fast. Strength-wise, what's your training background? Also, what accessory work did you do in the months leading up to your easy 105 practice C&J?

feeling 100%. The problem was too much bike riding. Stopped, and the problems are gone.

Did some crossfit- "mini diane"

80 kilo deadlift- 21, 15, 9 reps
Handstand pushups- 10, 7, 5

for time

approx. 9 mins. should really get a stop watch

Deadlifts flew off the floor. Had no trouble getting through them. Made me wonder why I didn't take a much heavier weight...but give 10 mins and wham...back became supertight. So glad that I scaled down.

LBH tomorrow. Think I can go heavy.

Went to lbh today. Yesterday's xfit really murdered my glutes and hamstrings. I'm fucking sore all over right now. Couldn't go heavy at all.

pm session (two cleans, 3 front squats)- 60 kg, 75x4

would have done some xfit but my body's telling me to take it easy. pulled a neck muscle, and i had a sharp pain in right knee yesterday that just went away as soon as it hit me.

needed a few days off. Back and feel strong.

snatch- (from hang) 2x40x3, (from floor) 2x50x3, 3x55 (2 snatches, 2 btn wide grip push presses, 3 overhead squats)

Clean and Jerk- 60 kg, 70 kg, 3x80 (all two cleans, one jerk). Power cleaned a few of those 80's.

threw in some bent presses for fun. 2 sets of 5 with 55 lb dumbbell

so i'm lifting in the nyc open next saturday

haven't gotten around to weightlifting too much cause i've been really busy.

last heavy workout i cleaned 90 kilos for a 2 triples, which is a pr. really fucking easy.

shooting for 85 and 115...which may be a bit out of my range but who knows. My best lifts to date are 80 and 105;105 was pretty easy.

btw i sprained my wrist yesterday while playing with some little kid. this should make things interesting

so what are you expecting to lift at the open

I have been so erratic it's hard to tell right now. I had hoped for 86ish to open, wanting to get a shot at 90 or more in; then 105 maybe to open, trying to get to 110. But we'll have to see how I feel next week. 3 more trainings left; just need to sharpen and recover and I think I'll be strong.
What's your plan? And get some wrist wrapping! You and Yoon in the limp wrist club...

i've kinda forgotten how to split jerk since i've been doing so much power jerking
makes me a bit nervous, but i have to think positive

and the wrist is fine. there's still some pain but it's bearable and has no impact on my lifts.

So yea. This meet didn't go too well.
I was fucking exhausted. Fell asleep in the park after the weigh-ins and had to lift as an extra.
Snatch- made 75, missed 80- got it overhead but i didn't extend enough, and joe says that I pulled with my head down, missed 85- got this overhead- and I have to say, it was pretty easy-, but I rushed to get it up, and again, my fucking head was down, and lost it forward. But 90 doesn't seem to be too far off, esp. since 85 felt so easy.

Clean and jerk- well, I blacked out during the warm-up. Yea. Fucking blacked out. Was really scary. I cleaned 95 and stood up with it- and suddenly felt like I couldn't breathe. I dropped the weight and everything went black, and I stumbled back a bit. Luckily I didn't fall. Next thing I know, my vision's back, and everybody's surrounding me. I guess I must have been really fucking exhausted for this to happen- and also, I drank no water during the meet. So yea. stupid of me.

But i made 105 and 108. I could have made 110 but joe says I cut my pull short. I caught the clean on my collar bone but couldn't rack it.

Well- for future reference- drink water and get LOTS of rest the week before a meet.

I'm totally bummed to be missing out on all the upcoming comps with you guys. I'll just be living vicariously through you and John while I squat, pull, and shrug in the comfort of my apartment...who knows for how long.

i think i've pretty much capitulated. I've been suffering from some serious health problems lately, from which i just recovered. Took a little bit of advice from this article:


i'm pretty big on biking. I used to do crazy ass tricks and cut through traffic like nothing when I was a delivery worker. I came down with pericarditis earlier this year during this time, and it's reoccured 2 other times since then, the latest episode being just this past month.

I've noticed recently that each episode reoccurs when I'm biking pretty heavily. I've been to the emergency room and specialists a few times and all of them were pretty much stumped as to the cause. All of them recommended weeks off from any kind of physical activity. Each time I recovered...but once i was back on the bike shit came back.

i've finally recovered...not going to do any biking ever again in the city.

So i'm just getting back into the groove of things...but i think i might change my training priorities from the next few weeks...mix things up a bit...been messing around with some gymnastics and powerlifting in conjunction with the usual stuff...will start posting my stuff soon

ever since i started this "office" job, my conditioning has gone down the drain
2 sled pushes (100 ft, 250 lbs) had me huffing and puffing
never really had to bother much with conditioning when i was doing manual labor
cutting my pulls short too on the c&j. Need to think about extending my back more ont he second pull

Neglected to post my last 2-3 workouts

three days ago- pulled 75 kilos for 4 singles in the snatch, 95 kilos clean and jerk for 4 singles
two days ago- pulled 70 kilos in snatch for 4 singles, triples in clean for 90 kilos
yesterday- 70 kilos for 6 singles in the snatch, did some clean work from the hang

i filmed myself cleaning- i'm essentially power cleaning, even with the heavier weights. early arm pull, catching it real high. probably do an extended warm-up in the hang to address problem

Snatched 85 kilos. Seemed really easy; need to work on punching out on the heavier weights. Missed 87.5

C&J- Maxed at 95. The snatches really wiped me out. I should have rested more between sets

will max out again next week

go lighter on the lifting this week, maybe do more met-conish stuff
i really need to get a foam roller- got persistent pain right under the scaps. i know i need to do more rotator work, but the only thing that seems to help are face pulls, and it's incredibly hard for me to get into the gym with all the work that i'm doing. Cracking my back relives the pain temporarily, but after 10+ hours of sitting on my fat ass at work, pain comes back.

My lats usually gets very tight as well, no problems with the neck unless we are talking about upper back i.e. traps. Those get tight as well.

If I foam roll consistently and static stretch I can typically get it to go away in a few sessions (10-15 min)but then a workout of high rep pull-ups will go ahead and knot my back up again.

Something I've tried for my legs and my arms before is the dixie cup trick, take a dixie cup, freeze it, unwrap it and do SMR with it. I've never thought to try it for my back but I don't see why it wouldn't work. Other than getting a little cold and wet.

i'm still alive
moved out of my parents place- living the typical low-income, ny tenement lifestyle in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.
it's ridiculously hard to train now- takes an hour and a half to get to lost batallion, and with me clocking in over 12 hours of work each day, there's no way i'm going to even try that commute
living with two friends in a cramped apartment- neighbors complain whenever i try to weightlift- so i've been doing a lot of powerlifting in the last month or so
just wanted to let you guys know i'm still alive- guess only yoon and john would care anyway- i miss the ol' gym and you guys

Legs felt a bit exhausted. Decided not to push it.

Snatch- 135 x3, 155x3, 165 x 7 singles. Missed third single

short workout. Too much work to do.

Richie's has a really really shitty floor. Uneven boards, little ruts. makes any kind of olympic lifting a hazard.

Not such a great day

went to the park midday when i had a few minutes to spare- did 4 sets of 3 bar muscle ups, 2 sets of 5 "elevator pull-ups" (basically an explosive pull-up from one bar to another...think about 2 feet distance). i only got my first muscle-up 2-3 days ago...more to come

late evening workout, 20 minutes before gym closed- 225 lb squat x5, 225 lb x8, 255x6, 255x5, 255 x5. Gym was at least 90 degrees...i was fucking sweating bullets

must sleep earlier and eat better...

Keg- 10 presses, 20 shoulders, 10 presses
barbell- 10 bent over rows, 10 squats, 10 good mornings, 10 romanian deads

not sure how much was in the keg- probably 75-90 lbs
barbell- 105 lbs
for time, but no stopwatch...

Think i will get back into a more traditional oly lifting program for the next 3-4 weeks...maybe do more met-con this week...felt pain in my knees yesterday

will incorporate more horizontal rowing this upcoming 3-4 weeks. need to start light on these rows. keep using lower back to propel weight up.

5x5 bar muscle-ups- a few days ago 3x3 was a challenge for me. whoopee

played around with back levers. can hold one for about 2 secs

deadlifts definitely do help build power for a weak oly-lifter. those 210s were power cleans

225 lb back squat supersetted with 3 sets of 8 175 lb romanian snatch grip deadlift (back squat according to the 5-7-3 scheme)

need to do more grip work

been awhile.
snatch work- i do it if i have chalk. if i leave it at home, it's a nono since i have butter fingers. will do some tomorrow.

spent all of last week doing random shit and trying to regain weight unsuccessfully. at a paltry 155 lbs...

man this totally sucks

getting your wisdom teeth pulled out and losing 8 lbs in the process

now a massive dose of explosive diarrhea. i haven't eaten any real food for the past 3 days. and not to mention all of the water and electrolytes i'm losing

shit keeps fucking me up. what am i to do?

all i know is that when i get my bowel movements in check i really need to structure my workouts. and really hammer out the squat. honestly, my squat has progressed very little in the past 2-3 years. i don't know if it's because i'm nto squatting enough or if i'm squatting too much. any input appreciated

anyway, i forced myself to lift today. Felt REALLY weak.

Clean and jerk- worked up to 185 lbs, 4 singles
bent over rows- 145 x 7, 145x4, 145x5
