So I guess even jacked seventy year olds are required to pull their pants way up.

I guess I would be happy to look like that at 70...Now if I can keep from losing the last marble by that time(alzheimer in the woodpile) I will be really happy.

I wish Art De Vany was my grand dad...

Eh. De Vany's definitely in good shape for any age, let alone 70, but considering how much he's hyped his physique I expected something more impressive.

Exactly. Something more like Clarence Bass.

I would be happy to look like him at 70, but I was expecting clear cut abs and whatnot.

6'2", if I remember correctly.

Everything else aside, you gotta give him his due. You just don't see 70 year olds walking around every day in his condition. On the other hand, I think the guy who is in Rut's CF avatar (John Turner?) is in just as good shape, or possibly even better. If you cut off his head you'd think the man was forty.

I searched for it and found the photo at: http://ettaclarkphotography.com/
His name is John Turner, and I'd willing walk around with his head on my shoulders to be in his condition at any age.

Exactly, I'll be lucky to appear like that when I'm 40!

You know, not only does he look in better shape but upon thinking it over I'd wager that he could more than hold his own against De Vany in most strenuous activites. Not only that but probably against most that are 1/2 his age.

John Turner may also only be training for aesthetics, let us not forget that part. I know nothing of his training methods.

Last I saw LaLanne on television, he was doing all BBing type exercises, and a lot of machines at that (some DBs). He's gone from all the gymnastics/cals that he used to do, to being sucked into the isolated bodypart mentality. I'd guess that's why we aren't hearing about his great athletic feats anymore--that and too many LSD cardio activities--it's enough to break anyone.

Also, having a little more sagging skin (it seems DeVany has a bit more than Turner) doesn't really change the function of the muscles beneath. For as "functional" a crowd as is on the PMenu, it seems that this discussion is slipping into a "who's prettier?" discussion.

Aging and maintaining functionality and strength are to be commended, no matter what the appearance ends up as. Aged HGs aren't the "prettiest" folk either, if I recall correctly.

But don't forget, it was Dr. DeVany who
posted the photo of himself, with somewhat
flattering commentary.

I am most attracted to the fact that he
repeatedly mentions that he's capable of
doing what he wants to do...yeah, that's
the ticket.

That is true.
