Here (http://www.dynamic-eleiko.com/sportivny/library/farticles015.html) is an interesting article about lifting shoes...

Good article. Now that I'm back to lifting, I need to order me a pair. And did anyone else notice that the site abbreviated "Featured Articles" to farticles?

Good read Aimee!
Really cool pictures.

I still wish I had been a fit athletic kid. Growing up in Russia and not entering Heavy Athletics kid club (that's how Weightlifting is known) and not playing enough with my dad's kettlebells. Talk about missed opportunities.

Instead opted for cakes and food at my grandmas.

Does anyone have a big picture of Vasiliy Alexeev pressing the barbell in a river?

Kelly Starrett told me about some new-ish lifting shoes that are reasonably priced...G, Aimee...any ideas on these?

Nike's look neat, looks like a plastic heel but I bet if that's for Chinese team - the shoes might be excellent!

Adidas shoes look funky.

Yeah those Nikes are cool. Would be great if they hit the mainstream market at some point.

Though I've been really content with the feel of the Ironwork IIs, I kind of like the Asics style (available only in Japan and a handful of other places, from what I've read):

Sadly, a change of shoes will do nothing to improve my actual lifting:(

Looks like a really high heel on the asics. I wish I can undestand a word written in there :D

I've got a few friends who are fluent that could translate, but what jumped out at me was the price (~230 US dollars). Ummmm, maybe not!

Oh yeah, and no weightlifting shoe thread would be complete without mention of Mark and his shoes (http://www.lostbattalionhallweightlifting.org/images/Mark%20Vales%20-%20c1982%20-%201b.jpg).

I asked him about that photo, and he wasn't hamming it up for the camera like I originally thought, but rather he and his friends just used whatever they could afford back in the days.

Based on a quick survey of weightlifting photos from the 60's and 70's no one in those days could afford enough material to cover their nipples while lifting either!

haha, yeah that too. Time for a comeback!
