Planting a Fruit Tree

I was thinking about planting an apple tree (either a gala or fuji) in my back yard this year. Figured not only would it be a neat experiment but it would save me a few bucks as well. Anyone have any experience in this department? Any Johnny Appleseeds out there who would be kind enough to share a few tips?

What about a good online site to order a tree from?

Something I'd like to do too, perhaps also some grape vines or berries. No tips though.
