hey chris - out of curiousity, im assuming youve been able to sustain the mass gain with this schedule... are you eating more/less/same than zone prescribed?

for me, 15-17 hour fasts 5-7 d/wk. sometimes can stretch weekend fasts ~19 hrs.

12-17 hours per day every day of the week. I try to stay at a minimum of 15 but eating with te family changes things around sometimes.

15-20 hrs - 18 probably average. 5-6 days per week most often.

I've been detailing my food and eating times on my blog (http://www.crossfitportland.com/scott/) if anyone would like a better picture of what I do.

20 hr fasts - every other day usually 3-4 days a week. Saturdays is only day I have no restrictions on my diet, although I rarely ever go overboard.

Scotty - like your blog man....great for ideas!

I peaked at 196 and my work pants would not fit. I intentionally lost weight, and am now down around 183 or so (+10 from my start point way back in March). Strength was maintained through this, and I lost the fat I had gained.

I've been running on an average of 2400 calories a day. About 10/30/60 Carb/Pro/Fat. So nothing like the Zone at all. Back during the mass gain I was at 4-5000 calories a day. Ridiculous.

I'm bumping up to nearly 3000 a day (average) next week. I'm going to just focus on strength numbers for the rest of '07, and maybe run another mass gain cycle in early '08.

4 - 6 days per week...depending on my work/travel schedule
15 - 18 hours

I tried to go longer, but after 16.5/17 hours all I could think about was food. Sixteen seemd to be the magical number for me.

I do it every day of the week. 14 hours eating nothing and then a small work out at midday, and a snack then. Without the snack, I'm going 20 hours without a big meal.

This is less of fasting for me, and more of following the warrior diet.

19/5. Only about a week into, but I'm really adjusting quite nicely and killing my workouts. Rather surprised. May open up the window so that my fasts look more like 18/6 or 17/7 to make sure I get enough food.

Appx 18 (6pm-12pm)
Eat 6 (noon-6)
Ends up being a large lunch, 4 pm smaller meal, then maybe something lite at 5:30, but I'm noticing that I'm really full during the feed window and almost have to force myself to eat the second meal as I'm trying to add a few pounds.

18 hours M-F; 9pm to 3pm.

Weekends -if it happens great, if not, that's okay but try for at least 15 hours.

5 days a week: usually 15, but I've been forgetting lunch a lot lately, so sometimes 20-22.

I have no desire to limit myself on the weekends. I still do my morning workout fasted though (er, on coffee).

I'm going to try 18/6 one or two days a week. The rest are 14-16 hours fasts (which really don't count as fasts).

I don't know (I'm in IF newb). It looks like every one goes so much longer that 14 seems paltry in comparison. I eat dinner around 6 and don't eat again until the next morning at 8 or 10, which seems fairly normal. How long do fasts need to be for them to be considered fasts? I can't go longer than 18 with my schedule.

No frigin idea...such as what length does the fast need to be minimally to have any positive affects...and does the affects increase with a longer fast? I'm guessing from what I have seen, fasts should be a minimal of 15 hours inorder for the hormonal responses to fasting kick in. Now is 14 hours better than nothing at all? I am sure there are benefits to giving your gut some time off from digestion of course. Does a 24 hour fast 2x a week give you more deeper cellular cleaning and allow for more reversal of insulin resistance than 7x a week 15hr fasts? Crap.....it's all guess work as far as I know at this point.....best solution....vary your fasting protocols....add in some longer fasts once in a while and don't worry about fasting on other days (vs always the same fast length every day). Your body loves new things....it responds better to randomization than it does to routine.

I typically only do 15-17 when I do fast, and I've been found many benefits since January. The last few months I fell off the bus of clean eating due to various life things. Last week was my first full week of eating well.

20 hours 5-6 days a week. I try to do it everyday, but don't on some weekends.

Try to be strict low carb during the week, then loosen up on the weekend, and will sometimes eat during hte day on Sundays. I felt krummy before practice yesterday to I ate Chicken, cheese and broccoli at about 16 or so hours.
