View Full Version : Leg Cramps at night

Last couple of months, more so, last few weeks, I've been getting some pretty intense calf/quad muscle cramps at night.

I think I'm pretty hydrated, and have proper levels of Postassium, as I eat Paleo, log in Fitday, take a Multi just to be sure.

I have started taking about 5mg of Creatine, and wouldn't be surprised if this is one of the side affects.

I also stretch, take a hot bath most nights, with Epsom Salts, so I'm going to bed pretty relaxed.

Any comments or suggestions welcome, as flying out of bed to try to walk off the cramp is not doing my deep sleep patterns any good.

Thanks in advance.

Morrreeeeeeee water......you need more with creatine. At least a gallon in my book. That and try ZMA before bed....the magnesium and zinc may help at night (and you may be deficient)

ive had big time problems with this before, especially the calves.

lately, not as much since adding specific calf stretches for both gastro/soleus a few times a week during my post-wo cool down and once/twice during the day at the office.

see here for a good pic of the stretch

sounds like youre already doing that, but increasing the freq worked for me!

I just started the ZMA few weeks ago, good call Mike. With the creatine and coffee that I drink, it's a no brainer that I need more water. Thanks for the input, need to get a few more quarts in before Lights Out.

Thanks again.
