View Full Version : Timing of cheats, is there a "less bad" time?

I would be considered a strict adherent to the Paleo Diet if you didn't count my cheats, mainly a few squares of high quality chocolate.
I have accepted that I will cheat and so I'd like to know if there are worse or better times to cheat? So am I better to cheat at lunch, dinner or breakfast?
I agree the best time to cheat is not at all, but sometimes I'm weak. :)

Post workout would probably be the best time, whenever that is in your day.
On non workout days, earlier in the day is generally preferable, as you will have better insulin sensitivity. Unfortunately, dessert is usually an evening thing.....

Cheat in the AM and then you will feel like crap the rest of the day....good deterent not to want to cheat again remembering how you felt after. Don't cheat too late PM as it will screw up your GH response during sleep.

Thanks Scott, Mike. I'm going to move my cheat earlier in the day while attempting to skip every other day.
Currently the cheat is after my 2 weekly indoor ultimate games, and it's in addition to a post workout meal that aligns with that outlined in Paleo Diet for Athletes. The good thing is that it's after an hour of sprinting, the bad thing is that it's sometimes at midnight, or right before bed.
Thanks for the advice, I really should just kill the cheats all together.
