Do to a recent weight loss that was beyond my control i am trying to put on some missing muscle. im 5'9" @ 155 #s but formerly 165#s body fat somewhere around 7%.

Anyway, i have been doing the workout suggested by the template so kindly created in the sticky at the top of this forum... but i feel lazy. I have been doing CF workouts or the like for some time now so going back to the 6x6 thing is proving more difficult that i thought it would. I feel like i spend to much time at the gym and i dont work hard enough. Is this common? Should i just pick up my eating and get back on the CFing and see where that takes me?

Dump the metcons....eat tons of protein....lift heavy....you will get muscle back and get motivated soon enough....I'd kick you in the butt to get going but my leg doesnt go that far. Ha....Seriously...take it one day at a time...and before you know it....you have results soon enough....

The occasional butt kicking is needed...true.

I may have to break down and do a Murph or something of that ilk soon. Im getting itchy.

The hypertrophy cycle workouts should be pretty fast. I believe the rest between those sets should be between 45-90s; little rest spikes testosterone and promotes more rapid muscle growth.

Whelps. I'll say what I always say:

heavy lifting + HIIT + food

Depending on your lift numbers you might want to hit up something like Bill Starr's Intermediate 5x5 or even go back to Starting Strength..

Muscle that was lost comes back pretty much with like 20% of the effort of the first time so it should only take about half the time or less to gain it back.

hey, thanks to both of you. ive grown accustomed to the on again off again muscle; however, this is the first time since i started CF that ive had serious muscle loss. Thanks again for the help!

Metcon are the metabolic conditioning workouts...vs say a 5x5 workout.

Add in plenty of sleep, heavy lifting, fish oil, health sat fats (steak and eggs) and your Test should be fine to produce muscle. That and reduce cortisol from overtraining, excess physiological stress (lack of sleep, mental stress, too much exercise) and under-recovery. Muscles only grow when you are NOT using them.

Lazy can actually be an awesome way to grow.

I think it was Paul Anderson... he used to say if he wasn't lifting, he was resting. Why stand when one can sit? Why sit when one can lie down?
If you want to gain muscle, lift, rest, eat... and nothing else tiring.

If you can keep your laziness outside the gym, it can be an asset.
