What supplements would you recommend for a 34 year old former Crossfitter turned Olifter? I did Crossfit for 2 years and then nine months ago I decided to go full time with olympic lifting. I've been training 5 to 6 times a week with a coach and would like to qualifty for a national level meet before I get too old. I'm about 25 kilos short. I'm not looking for a magic pill but want to get everything in line for the next 5 months of training. What would you recommend?

before you bother with any supplements, make sure your nutrition is squared away. creatine if you respond to it. maybe BCAAs pre and post training.

Do you buy BCCAs seperately or as a complex? Any particular brand?

How much BCAA do you recommend? I've read all kinds of doses and it comes out to be a pretty expensive proposition from the doses I've heard. anywhere from 10 grams a day to 0.2g/bw to 20 grams a day.

i like the 0.15 - 0.2 g/lb/day approach split in half for pre- and post-training.

Greg, I'm shopping around on the BCAA's (Like Allen said, they're expensive!) What is the total amount of BCAA's per-serving of the MRM brand? It seems like a good price, but that all depends on how many servings I'm going to be going through each day with the stuff!

I like Xtend. At 205 lbs., I take about 20-30gm per workout. I know Greg recommends MRM but the Xtend is cheaper. I wonder how the quality compares though since it seems that the MRM mix has just as many fans a Xtend. I really like Scivation/Primaforce's products being that they have great prices and, to me, quality products. I use their ZMA exclusively.

Jesse - I guessing you're around 175 lbs or so, so you'd be looking at 26-35 g/serving (split into 2-3). so with a kilo of MRM you'd get 30-38 servings.

For pre workout, I like Vendetta check it out. it is a very good product. BCAA's after, maybe some creatine CEE is a favorite of a lot of people. Fish oil should already be in your diet as needed. Other than that, I do take cissus for joint pain etc.
