On the Crossfit forums is when you post a link, you immediately assure everyone that it's work-safe, child-safe, pet-safe, and senior-safe. Maybe even GRAS, which is Generally Regarded as Safe for oral consumption.

Now, a bit of a NSFW tag on a link is polite, but this assurance of safety in every possible realm is a bit ridiculous.

I'd comment on the XF forum, but alas I am still banned. IP banned no less. I'd probably give into the temptation to post transvestite scat porn and assure everyone that the link was GRAS, so maybe it's for the best.

This is almost as good as the agonizing all the Literal-KJV-Bible Christians did a few years back about eating paleo style while not believing in the paleolithic era.

Ah, but according to this site the Biblical diet is one that is anti-grain, anti-milk, anti-vegetarianism, pro-saturated fat and pro-cholesterol. Remind you of something?

http://www.biblelife.org/biblediet.htm

The famous philosopher of science Pierre Duhem argued that for any given set of data, there is a potentially infinite number of theories that are consistent with that data.

Discuss.

Steve--

Does Crossfit even allow you to click on "Message Board" and view the threads? Or not allowed on at all.

I was kicked off (Ip banned also) a forum before but just used this site to gain access from my own computer. http://www.anonymization.net/ :D

I can read, but can't reply.

Ah well, that place was dead anyway!

Steve,
This board may never have been born without Crossfit so be careful where you tread man. Both great boards, both great people. Besides, these message boards are only as good as the people who contribute to them. I know without Crossfit I'd never have discovered PM and the knowledgable folks that belong to both boards.

Steve:

I recognize that the XF forum is an excellent community. That doesn't make silly or downright stupid content immune from commentary. From anybody.

I also recognize that others don't feel that way, and consider the whole cult of personality behind XF as beyond criticism or questioning.

It's only a matter of time before the next implosion. Who'll it be? My money is on Rip.

Not trying to get negative bashing going on here...as I frequent the Xfit forum for good threads about health and fitness...but why is it people are jumping ship? (or as you say, implosion?) If it's too complicated....forget I asked.

I devoted the last five years to helping to grow the CrossFit community. I loved most of what was involved with that and met some of the most amazing people I have ever known via the seminars, certifications and message board. Many of these people, I have no doubt, will remain close friends throughout the rest of my life. I am profoundly grateful for that. I feel I played a role in the stratospheric growth and success of CrossFit and for that I am proud. All that said, it became necessary to disassociate with CrossFit for both personal and professional reasons. That was the most difficult decision I’ve ever made and despite the difficulties that has created it was the right thing to do.

It would be easy to shift into a mud slinging character assassination mode to make me feel righteous in my decision…but why would I want to damage something I loved and helped to bring to life? I love the concept and community of CrossFit, I simply can not be a part of it any longer. I can honestly say that is a profound and lingering loss.

I ask the folks in this burgeoning community to please refrain from stirring the pot on this topic. It will serve no purpose, change no minds but will assuredly cheapen what we have here.

Did not mean to stir anything or speak negatively towards anyone. I agree both boards have great people and I greatly admire the knowledge and willingness to share ideas on both boards. Thank you Rob for starting this board so your knowledge will not be lost and continued to be shared. Topic closed...and now off to hunt dinner!

Thanks guys. I just want to emphasize the positive, help a lot of people and tell a few fart jokes along the way. That I think, is a life well lived.

My first post here... I only posted a couple of times on the XF board, prefering to read and study, rather than add to the "signal to noise" ratio...

I wanted to say that I appreciate the class you guys are exhibiting!

If only more forums (and the folks that post on them) were as well mannered.

I'm new here too and really like the site. Lot's of good depth. But I missed the fart jokes, where are they? Did you guys see the farting preacher? :o

I think it really takes someone who is working to grow as a human being to demonstrate that type of positivity. :)

But I was so offended by the fart jokes. (j/k!)

Joyce, John-
That is DAMN funny! I'm a little stunned!

It is true...Greg and I have made a 2,000sqft gym seem intollerably small to Nicki by bombarding her with some fo the foulest stories and noises. She is a tough chick! I like to think of myself as an artist and use profanity as my medium...

Greg: no, I don't know Brooke. Is she at the Sammamish club? That's where I work out.
