To celebrate the 1 year anniversary of my workout log and my 1000th post here at this little slice of internet paradise I call my second home I thought I would list some of the things I have learned in the last year. Without further ado and in no particular order here they are.

1) Greg is a helluva a coach. I wouldn't be where I am today as a lifter if it wasn't for his patient tutelage. This really shows that a good coach is worth their weight in gold.

2) Longer met-cons are not necessarily better met-cons.

3) Body composition really is 90% diet.

4) Posting 1000 times doesn't make you an expert, but attending a certification seminar does make you a Coach. :D

5) Technique is great but strength is the determining factor. To quote John A. "More Front Squats".

6) You can continue to train even with a broken arm or a bum knee. Pick your exercises carefully.

7) You have to keep a workout log. I used to write down my workouts, but I never went back and looked at them. Now they are an integral part of my long term plan. I already have the next 3 weeks laid out and am looking forward to it.

8) Rest and recovery are critical especially when pushing hard (Bulgarian Cycle).

9) You can make some really good friends hanging around a place like this.

Feel free to add anything you have learned in the last year.

Amen, brother! Is it just me, or do the Hero and Painstorm workouts seem like LSD GPP???

This was echoed by the Wolf-man over at his blog (http://robbwolf.com/?p=85)...
On the CF side of training I end to stick with couplets and triplets with an emphasis on shorter efforts. Most of our folks are lacking in strength and this is a great way to focus on fundamentals and help people get stronger. Many of the newer affiliates get enamored with chippers and hour long WOD’s…they are really missing the point of CF and blunting the potential adaptations.

IMO, it's not limited to only new affiliates...it's the infiltration of the good ol' American "a little is good, so more must be better" mentality.

Hey I am a fairly new addition to PM boards, but I would hold the same sentiments, although I cant vouch for the Guiness-never had a beer in my life!
Now if anyone wants to change that the next time we meet.....

Anyway, I have found a sport that I love thanks to all of you!! And no more is not better! I have learned that lesson the hard way!

:)

Thanks Michelle, how true. OMG it's 10pm, gotta go turn in! Coach gonna be upset if I am tired in the morning.

#11) To be a successful CrossFitter in Florida it seems that board shorts are mandatory, but the black hat is optional ;)

I have been waiting for the next video opportunity. I got a new hat I was going to break out just for you. It is even grey on the front.

And yes board shorts are mandatory.

MOD Guiness is on me again, well at least for today, I don't think I could handle your St. Patricks day tab!

I was going to try something at home in board shorts and try not ripping them! So we're even.

That is probably a wise move....as I can't handle my Guinness tab....
