If krill oil is better absorbed into the body, does anyone have any idea how much less is needed to get the same benefits? Since it is more expensive, I wanted to compare the cost in that manner as it may even out compared to fish oil or possibly be cheaper.

If you buy from vitacost.com then:

Source Naturals Krill oil = $2.90/g of EPA+DHA

Carlson Salmon Oil = $.16/g EPA+DHA

Meaning, krill oil would have to be 18 times more absorptive than fish oil. Of course, krill oil, according to Dr. Eades, is 48 times greater in terms of anti-oxidant capacity, and is also superior in helping joint pain. Now you're getting into subjective valuations of the costs of these things...

No idea. I'm not a big fan of the idea of krill oil, mainly because I think "overfishing" that low on the food chain could have some really serious consequences and I don't dig on shellfish.

According to Eades write up, 110,000 tons are fished every year, out of 550 million tons available. Which is only .0002% of the total krill population.

I use my standard rule for supplements.....if it's still around in a year and people are talking about it....I'll look into it.

That and if it's sold via MLM I'll never look into it.

Krill Oil....know nothing....seems overhyped for now....more expensive....fish oil works fine....and bigger factor is to get more Omega 6s out of your diet and then you need less Omega 3s to balance it out.

In the end....eat Grass fed beef and you probably don't need either.....

Gram for gram of EPA/DHA, krill oil does appear more effective. I've often wondered how it would stack against fish oil and lecithin or maybe polyenylphosphatidylcholine.
