Here's a funny story about a guy (http://www.bloggingwv.com/corn-fed-venison-it-looked-good-on-paper/) that wanted to try to raise his own venison.

I used to work for an animal rescue centre so I can confirm that most animals are capable of kicking your ass any time they feel like it.

The worst part is when they do it by actual kicking. Cloven hoof kicks being the worst.

I can't decide if my favorite line was: "That deer EXPLODED." or "Did you know that deer bite? They do!"

Holy hell, that was funny. I'm still laughing.

I'd figure a fellow that had cattle and knew how to rope would know better than to mess with a deer (they're complete assholes!). Lucky for us, he didn't.

Oh I can relate to what that man is saying. I used to wrangle deer on my neighbors property. He was a breeder and we would shoot the deer with a light tranquilizer dart. That is when all the fun would start. We would let the dart start to take effect then I would sneak up on the deer, grab the horns and use the same kind of takedown you use on a horse or a cow. Once they were on the ground we would get them secured and transport them to auction or to the people that were buying them.

With deer we had to use a lighter tranquilizer as they could die if you used too high of a dose. As soon as we had the deer secured we would immediately give it an antidote to bring it back around.

I will vouch that a deer will use any part of its body to attack you. Here is a couple of pictures of a fairly young buck I snapped one night when we were getting him ready for transport. I have more pictures if anyone wants to see them.

Why has the idea of wrestling with deer just never entered my mind.

Deer roping; another reason to add to the list of "Why I carry a knife everywhere I go."

As soon as I read, "I wrapped the rope around my waist", it was clear this story would have some rough patches.

Now a story on what CA reader would do:
