View Full Version : Possible Tendonitis - Which doctor?

I posted a few days ago about thinking I might have tendonitis. The pain has become crippling and I really am having trouble going through my normal day. Typing is close to impossible, and picking up anything with that hand is very painful. The location is at the base of the ridge of my hand where your hand meets your wrist.
Does anyone know what type of doctor to go to for this? I'd like for somene to just give me a shot of cortisone.

I would not recommend cortisone at all especially if you are one of those people who are going to just ignore it and not rest. Cortisone does not solve the problem. If you want it to heal you should not get cortisone and look to solve what's actually wrong with your hand/wrist.
Sounds like you might have something like carpal tunnel. You need to aggressively stretch out both sides of your wrists and maybe get a bit of massage to help get blood flowing ot the area. Really depends what it is though.

go to a sports med or ortho so he/she can talk you out of the cortisone...wait on that stuff.
for real. get to a Doctor . Oddly, this is different than posting on the web. doctor's often have offices and painkillers.
Then do the rehab.

After you visit your doctor for a look at your carpel tunnel syndrome....ditch ALL wheat/gluten...I know people who have had the same issue....were told to go into surgery....then someone recommended them to get off wheat/gluten.....case solved and no surgery needed.
What activity is causing the chronic bending too? Oly lifting? Being on a computer all day? Might have to restrict those activities in the meantime too...or find a better way so it doesn't bend the wrist as much. If you are on a computer get one of those ergonomic keyboard/mouse with wrist-rests so it is straighter.

You know I thought it started after a morning of fly fishing. I hadn't been yet this season. Basically everything hurts typing is impossible, but I don't do a ton of typing during the day. I went out this morning and got a wrist brace thing and started some ibuprophen, I told my wife if its not better by Friday I will go to a doctor for it on Friday.
Edit: I do have an ergo mouse pad and keyboard thing.
