So I guess I'll be changing my avatar now...
Carlin "Mister Kicky-Pants" Hitchens was born last evening and he's a happy, alert, rather trim and muscular (If Mommy does say so herself!) baby.
And while I wish I could say I went into a field and squatted and chewed on a leather strap as pain relief, I'm actually going to admit that I had a medically regulated high-tech birth because it was my health the docs were concerned with.
Long story short, after my usual 107/68 ish blood pressure skyrocketed to 150+/98 during a "routine" checkup, and I admitted to a daylong headache that wouldn't quit, the docs offered me induction or going home to have a stroke.
I expressed my concerns about wanting to avoid a c-section at every cost and that I was rather like "An Osmond being taken to a Stones party at Hef's mansion, escorted by Keith Richards himself," the docs and I agreed: They gave me a 20 hour slow pitocin drip. And then after 15 minutes of pushing, I had my son.
He's fine, and my BP is back to that to which I'm accustomed so we're good. And though it will be awhile until I'm threateaning people in my way at the gym, I'm already feeling a lot stronger.
