View Full Version : Can't figure out what to bring for lunch

So, I've decided to change up my eating window a bit -- this time from 1PM - 9PM...which means I'll be fasting for 16 hours and breaking the fast by eating lunch.

I just don't know what to bring in for lunch anymore, as I've stopped eating sandwiches and chips. I thought about bringing a can of nuts/seeds and a couple pieces of fruit/veggies and just snacking on them - but that seems kind of restrictive. I want very minimal carbs...so I'm trying to figure out what some of my options are -- preferably cheap and easy ones, not elaborate prepared meals. I can't eat sardines/tuna everyday either...

Would just sandwich meat be fine?

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Well... what do you want to eat?

Look at Mike's blog, the IFlife... Martin Berkhan had a good guest post there. You can also find that post on the leangains.com blog (Martin's blog). Meat and veggies is a good idea.

I know you said no fancy prepared meals but to be honest this is what I find best and plenty easy.

Cook a pound or more of meat and divide it into 4 or so sections take one each day in a tuperware for the next few days you can also usualy get one or more quick dinners or snaks. I saute the meat throw in a bunch of choped veggies then reduce the heat and cover the pan get some house chores done then in like 10 or so minutes I take of the lid let it cool and divide it into tuperwares. Not to fancy but deffinatly fills nutritional requirement stated.

Oh yeah and for fat its hard to beat Olive Oil or a avocado. My favorite snack is two Omega 3 eggs hard boiled an apple and a small portion of almonds and walnuts.:)

Someone needs to come out with Meatsickles....meat on a stick.

Starting with a little fruit/veg when breaking a fast is usually a good idea to get the digestive enzymes going before you toss down a meat bomb into the stomach.

Dude, you need to get a clue.

You can take any food to work, smoked meats, cooked meats(meat cookies), dried fish, cooked fish, really, you can't figure out what to take to work, and you have access to this blog, CF and the 5-10 related blogs, AND YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT TO EAT?????????

You might want to reconsider your eating program and just stop at Micky Dee's and call it a day.

Pulled Pork, it's whats for breakfast, lunch and dinner........

Well, since this meal breaks my fast I'd rather do away with any kinds of meat - maybe just some sardines if any....if I have too much meat in a day, my brain slows up like your typical gym-bound meathead.

I think the nuts/fruits/veggies combo would be great to end the fasting period.

I appreciate this criticism though, that was kind of funny. I knew from the get-go this post would seem kind of silly, but still, it impelled me.

Tomorrow will be different though, I got some cuttlefish to eat. haha.

Cuttlefish is the bomb.... dried and shreaded.... love it.

For me an apple is the perfect way to get the digestive awake.
Or I sometimes just take a gulp of raw braggs abpple cider vinager. Any one else do that I figure people think I am nuts for it?
But meat slowing your brain?
to each their own.

Does anyone else have a fitday public journal? I'm interested to see what everyone else eats. Thanks

Did you feel full?
Rest day?

pretty low cal but I would do it. Maybe add som MUFA if I felt I needed some calories but if I feel like I am not feeding on my muscle I am pretty happy.

Fit Day journal looks pretty cool I might mess with it and post with you in nutritional log section. I will check it out. I don't want to obscess in a daily basis though if I am not carefull I will get caught up in my head and stop listening to my gut.

I normally break a fast with something small (relatively speaking) 3 eggs is the most common thing.... then about an hour later I eat a tupperware full of veggies with 6-8oz of meat...

Liver tabs, nuts/seeds, and a handful or two of dried fruit. Good stuff, and never goes bad.

What's in the liver tabs? Milk Thistle? I've got some Milk Thistle laying around I need to use up...is there an advantage in taking it fasted vs with food? I would guess fasted.
