View Full Version : Warm ups and gymnastics

So I was flipping through the Gynastics and Tumbling book that made its way around CF for a while. They talked about the warm up being "Danish and German Free Extension Exercises" I have googled the crap out of that trying to find something that would tell me what it could be. The CF mainpage came up with the paragraph that I had read. Anyone have any ideas what they mean?

Which page are those on in the book?

There are lots of exercise in there where the terminology is arcane and defunct, even to lifetime gymnasts (of which I am not one).

I like the mimetic movements (aka quadrupedal movements) and balance beam drills as a warm-up for the upper and lower body with gymnastics stuff--all out of that same book.

PG 46 under Warm Up Procedures - Free exercises. I find the performace tests at the end are interesting. Some of the stuff looks like circus acts. Its weird that the stuff they were teaching way back when seems to have faded away for no particular reason.
