View Full Version : sorry in advance, need help with IF

well, i have searched for a few days now and can not seem to find all the info i am looking for, as i am the one eye wonder for now, i had eye surgery 8/1. well to start of i am overweight and need to lose weight, but my main concern is not gaining any weight as i will not be able to workout for a few months due to cornea transplant:mad: . i tried to zone but even at 14-16 blocks, i could not eat that much. after reading the posts and the IF blog that Gant has a link to, i realize that IF is kind of similar to the way i eat. i eat when i am hungry only, my wife gives me hell, saying that it will slow my metabolism, but i am miserable if i eat when i am not hungry.
i work nights: fri, sat, sun, mon, so my days flip flop, but my body is used to it and my hunger is on time day or night. 90% of the time i eat at 11am and 5pm (when on day schedule) and 5pm and 11pm (when on the night schedule).
so to give you a break and sum everything up, i need help with what size of meals are to be eaten during the feeding window.

my intake: no coke, or candy ever. very rarely drink, and when i do it is either tequila or vodka with limes in both. i eat too many tortillas and pasta, and my weakness is cookies (can control it as i don't buy them unless the kids go to the store with me), eat out only once a week and no fast food

i have not gained any weight since a weight gain of 60#'s in 2003, and i also do not lose weight either, hovering around 240. i don't know if i am eating too much, or if my metabolism is slowing by the way i eat. all i know is that i can not eat many meals a day except maybe once or twice a week. anyhow any help would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about IF until you get rid of the cookies, tortillas, and pasta.

Read the above, it's an excellent overview of how you should be eating. Even without exercise you'll probably lose tons of eight eating this way (not to underestimate the value of exercise, you should do it once healed).

Eat mostly veggies, lots of good fat, and enough protein.

thanks guy's, how sad am i, other than asking this question, i have been on this site and the main site everyday checking to see what i am missing. i also have watched greg e.'s oly lift dvd 3 times, even though i have been doing the oly lifts since i was sixteen, i figured they (greg&aimee)are better at them than i am, and for 34 bucks i thought it was a good deal well thanks a lot guys.

thanks for the support Liam, i was meaning that i act like i have nothing better to do than look around to see what kind of crazy workout they are going to come up with today, even though i can't workout i am addicted to these sites. well at least i am not looking at porn or something like that, i quess that would make my wife happy. have a good one

Greg, thanks for the link, it is full of great information. i found a way to describe my problem in one of his blogs, i would say that i eat pretty good at least 85'% of the time, i know there is a lot o room for improvement, or i would not be so heavy. mark s. said people who weigh a ton, workout a ton, and eat a ton, will still weight a ton; i thinks thats me. great info and thanks again.

Sorry I didn't mean to be to cheesy. I know what you are going through I rescently hurt myself and have been rehabing for the past 6 weeks I am finaly well enough to do some WOD at near full intensity but I can't push myself on heavy days yet. I looked at the mein site WOD's for like a few days and then just stoped it was painful to see what I was missing. I since have thrown myself into the forum here and read some books on nutrition, spirituality, and Starting Strength by Coach Ripptoe. I have been doing what I can and actualy feel like I am comming out of it stronger and better prepared for proper training. :cool:

Liam, it's cool "bein' cheesy ain't easy" cheese burger eddie from the new Longest Yard:cool: i am feeling the same and doing the same stuff as reading and learning so i can also come out stronger in the end. it's cool to talk to some one in the same situation as i am in, good luck.
