I came across this today. It's a pretty interesting read, geared more towards bodybuilding but it's interesting to see how some of the old time weightlifters used to eat and how ahead of their time they were with some things. The amounts and types of food are amazing that some ate. Entertaining and interesting. Not a whole lot of take home info , but if your bored check it out.

Gironda often stated that nutrition was 85-90 percent of bodybuilding. His alternative to drugs was eggs. Like Blair, he advocated up to 36 eggs a day for 6 to 8 weeks to produce muscle buildup.

holy cripes man.....I got bad gas just thinking about 36 eggs a day!

Thanks for the link Joe...probably one of the best reads on the internet I have come across in a whilel.....just goes to show the old diet of "steak and eggs" is alot better than todays "chicken and supplements"...that and fat is good.

Liederman also felt obliged to mention that ice cream was very popular, referring to one lifter who often felt it necessary to finish his meals with a quart of vanilla ice cream.

My recollection of John McCallums' Keys To Progress is that it had pretty good food-think for the time.

I'm down with the Saxons:

Daily Menu for the Three Saxon Brothers
Breakfast
24 eggs
3 pounds smoked bacon
Porridge with cream and honey
Tea with plenty of sugar

Dinner
10 pounds of meat
Vegetables
Sweet fruit (raw or cooked)
Sweet cakes
Salad
Tea
Sweet puddings
Cocoa and whipped cream

Supper
Cold meat
Smoked fish
Lots of butter and cheese
Beer

This is hilarious!!! I am now eating 6 eggs per sitting. I have had 18 today. 6 this morning. Then immediately followed by another 6 mixed with avocado.

Then 6 tonight.

All with a few tablespoons of olive oil and a dash of Mrs Dash garlic and herb. Whadda meal!

I need to have my ice cream and coconut oil with walnut and almonds atop now that I've had my couple Guinness :D Gotta get ma' fat-back.
