We all know that I love to keep controversy going, so now that the baby's asleep here goes one.

So the presumptive Republican VP candidate's daughter is 17 and knocked up. In the great tradition of Jamie-Lynn Spears and Solange Knowles, she's gonna marry the boy and raise the baby until the boy runs off or is mysteriously offed somehow.

Anyhow, isn't the human female SUPPOSED to breed young? I mean, aside from her mother's party arguing that premarital relations are immoral and that her problem is not enough abstinence-based sex ed, what's the big deal?

I think it's better than the other Republican sex scandals of late. (Senator Craig anyone?)

I am under the impression that Gov Palin acknowledges and respects her daughter's actions and decisions. I think that makes it less of a scandal. It actually sounds pretty healthy, to me.

What I've heard of older cultures was that the babies were born by the youngins, and raised mostly by the middle-aged and up.

Young folks are better physically prepared to birth kids, yet they are terribly underprepared to raise them.

Now that I'm having my first at the age of 32, I couldn't imagine having the responsibility of a child in my late teen years.

What bothers me the most about all of this is what in my perception seems to be common amongst Republican's.

If a Republican does it, it's no big deal, it's explained away.

If a Democrat or non-party lines Republican does it, it's the Anti-Christ and they should be hung and quartered.

I just don't see what the deal is to begin with. So the kid got knocked up, it's all the rage these day's right? I mean out of a graduating class of 28 in my high school at least 6 of the girls became pregnant within a few months and 1 or 2 were already pregnant prior to graduating...


I respect Obama for telling the media that family is off limits in this race. At least there is some dignity for family privacy.
