View Full Version : Question on fasting - did a search

Newb question on fasting and just couldn't find what I'm looking for via search. My next two weeks precludes me from taking scheduled wod days off, but I am going to fast tomorrow for personal reasons.... fasted before, but never with a wod. I normally have done some fasting only on non-wod days, etc.

WOD time is at 1pm and plan on breaking fast around 6pm or even following morning. The wod is going to be strength based with metcon at end. What should I expect result-wise, energy-wise, etc... any tips? Suggestions? Personal experiences?

all depends on how much glycogen you have stored in the muscles.....you could feel great or bonk. There is also the "are you a fat" adapted metabolism that comes into play as well. One way to find out.....

Yeah..... I know; I was just looking for a quick answer. We'll see tomorrow. Besides, it'll be "constantly varied" by my not eating all day!:(

Even with a fat adapted metabolism it was a training process for me to begin becoming efficiant enough with tapping stored energy to feel good WODing fasted however after a couple of weeks of doing it over half the time I began to feel excelent. Now I almost always work out fasted on metcon days especialy.:D

Was a slow lift day, and actually felt pretty strong. I haven't done it since, but will start looking at trying it on metcon - couplet days.

Luckily, I broke fast pretty soon afterwards.
