Hey, does anyone know of any affordable squat stands that do not take up much area at all? Something that can be put aside and not interrupt a small platform area?

we picked up ours from Promaxima for around $200 (shipped) and have no complaints.

I got the Promaximas as well for the same price Ken mentioned. Great stands, but I heard somewhere that they've since gone up in price.

A guy a train with has the TDS stands at home and speaks highly of them.

Brian;

Do a search on the CF boards as this topic comes up on regular basis, though not as much as Milk, "Why I can't do OHS", how many blocks in "fill in the blank", or "how do I get big, ripped, 12 pack, but not gain any weight or fat"

"how do I get big, ripped, 12 pack, but not gain any weight or fat"

Hey, how do I do that?

Funny you should ask that...

Here are some links.

I am sure there are more out there. Ironmind is out there but they are spendy.

When I get done hoarding money I am getting the BW ones.

Here are some cheap squat stands (http://cgi.ebay.com/Olympic-Standard-Barbell-Free-Press-Bench-Squat-Stands_W0QQitemZ250358668670QQcmdZViewItemQQptZExe rcise_Fitness_Strength?hash=item250358668670&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50).

They are a little awkward to adjust quickly, but otherwise not bad.

I've got the BW stands. They are seriously awesome. Very sturdy, are essentially the Iron Mind stands from what I can tell. They break down to fit into a small area and are very adjustable.

I really like those BW's Joe linked to. $315 but they look bomb-proof. I have the TDS. I like them fine but once loads get up to around 300lbs I get a little nervous about the welds.

They were not inexpensive, but I bought the IronMind Vulcan Racks and love them. I have a tendency to buy cheap stuff and regret it later, but decided to resist that urge when deciding to purchase squat racks. I am glad I did (and wish I had done the same with my GHD, etc.).

FWIW, the BW stands appear to be very similar to the IM Vulcan Racks, but also appear to be constructed from smaller steel stock. I do not know if that would ever make a difference, but thought I should mention it.

I'll put in another recommendation for the BW portable squat stands. I've never seen Ironmind's Vulcan racks for comparison but the BW's are HEAVY.

It appears Proxima's do not accomodate bench... Do any of you all that have Proxima's find yourself having to step around the base when unracking wieght to perform squats? I worked out at a gym that had a pair of squat stands similar to those and I would have to step around the base to get clear of the rack to squat. Very annoying with lots of weight on my back!!
