I'm hanging a set of rings at our new place. We have nine foot ceilings and I want to hang them permanently. I'm hanging them so the invert of the ring(s) is a seven foot elevation off the floor.

If the invert is at seven feet then I should have two feet to clear as my head and shoulders go up and through the rings, right? Hitting my head shouldn't be an issue should it?

Now, when mounting them, my plan includes running the strap by which they hang through an 1/2" (minimum) eye bolt fixed into the truss running through the ceilings.

The trusses are 24" inches apart. What is the standard distance that rings are hung from each other? Is 24" OK?

Standard is about 19 inches roughly.

I would use adjustable straps though as you dont always want them at one height.

Mine are permanently into joists in the ceiling with eye hooks, but I have adjustable straps and velcro stays as my ceiling is 8 feet, sometimes I want to work handstands so I lower them, sometimes I want to work seated muscle ups so they are about halfway up, and sometimes I want to do pullups so they are almost to the ceiling.

50cm is standard width = 50cm / (~2.5cm/in) = ~20"

I agree with the adjustable straps. You wanna lower them for some things and make them higher for others.

Agreed, when I said hang them permanently I meant in reference to the fixed eyehooks. Mentioning the invert elevation was only in reference to the height they could be to perform MUs.

The trusses in the garage ceiling where they'll be mounted are 24" apart. I don't really want to use any mounting support other than the eyebolts so that means they'll be 24" apart if I do that.

If they are mounted 24" apart would that mean one's ability to do certain movements on them would be negatively affected to an undesirable degree?

Just what FIG came up with. LArger people usually space the rings a bit farther apart, smaller people a bit closer together in crossfit circles anyways.

Might make muscle ups a little bit harder but meh, not gonna be world changing.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

Wider rings = harder

Just like longer straps is also harder

If you can I would set them standard distance, but if not it's no sweat to have the wider because if you get up on the real thing it will be easier for you to do things. :)
