I went to see it with my family for my Bday. It was good. Recommend the 3D version if you can. I am not sure what the books are like. My oldest son has one of them so I guess I will find out.

I don't think it would be like "Starship Troopers". Awesome book, lame ass movie. Heinlein is still rolling in his grave.

Man I am veering all over the place tonight.

Since we're talking movies, I'm looking forward to "Clash of the Titans." All Liam Neeson movies seem to be good.

Yeah I have read it 10-12 times. I have one copy that I loan to people to read and another that my brother gave me that he wrote in. Its amazing that it was written in 1958 (I think).

We didn't have the book thread last summer. We need to do that again, now that it is coming up

Thanks, Joe. I hadn't heard of this movie and it looks like it will be worth a good time.

Robert,

You give it much to high a rating.

If you haven't already - read Ender's Game - I think it might make a neat movie also.

Ender's Game is very good. He put a story (not really novel) about the cadets giving each other presents at Xmas. I have not had the chance to read it yet but the blurb on the back was good.

Fair enough. How about when Liam Neeson was on screen and jar jar, and young anikan were not on screen the movie was tolerable.

basically I thought Liam's character and Obi Wan were cool and the final lightsaber battle was awesome. Most the rest made me want to gouge my eyeballs out... after murdering George Lucas.

One of my all time favorite books. And I loved the series, Speaker for the Dead, Xynocide, and Children of the Mind were awesome. Wasn't as much a fan of the shadow books, the first was ok but the rest just seemed forced to me and focused too much on being "action packed" which is not Orson Scott Card's style, at least not the couple of series I have read of his.

I'm one of the few that thought the book really wasn't that great. I read it, and even the sequels, and just thought it was an okay story line.

Thanks for the recommendation, Joe. I just watched the movie. It reminded me a lot of Avatar.
