Hasn't he participated in a weightlifting meet? Or was that a powerlifting meet?

What's amazing is the push press didn't even look that hard, I'll bet he can do more.

it just seems like he could give chigishev a run for his money

its strange that he hasn't participated in any major weightlifting meets if he's that good

I would also think that he'd be interested in taking on Chigishev.

Don't get me wrong, I think Koklyaev is a total bad-ass. He could probably rip my arms off and toss me like a ragdoll...

But, if he hasn't recently competed in any major weightlifting meets, I think we can all probably guess why. I mean, his appearance in this video doesn't leave much doubt. To each his own though, maybe he prefers the strongman and powerlifting game.

Are you being ironic or naive, Denver?

As I have said before, he pisses me off. I am generally not good at lifting, but did manage to push press 200kg, which was the one lift i was fairly proud of and couldnt find many people besting. Then this SOB does 20kg more like its nothing??? Needless to say, I am not his fan!

I would put forth the motion that we no longer compare this man to humans because he is a mutant. His lifts have as little to do with ours as the horsepower of the model T has to do with the thrust of the space shuttle.

Can I get a second?

If you are not generally good at lifting then who ever was?

Yes you can. He is some sort of Russian Cyborg.

I think my perspective is different... I coach multiple lifters every day who are better than I ever was. And when I travel to Pan-Ams or the world championships with them, they get beat by lifters even better than them.

So enter the CrossFit/USAW meet. I'm sure kipping pullups and double unders would help Caleb get over the hump.

He apparently put on a show in Glasgow... (I know, I know, he's not human)

Squats 640lbs without his hands.

the squatting without his hands was a skill he acquired a little while back when he was dealing with a bicep tear.
He is quite the freak, would be interesting what he could do if he stepped back into OLY lifting. He is quite a force in strongman however, top 5 in the world i'd say without a glaring weakness.

From another forum:
He did a fairly extensive warm-up. Couple of sets with the bar then 20kg jumps from 70 all the way to 270. Just one single at each weight.

He did similar warm-ups for all the other lifts too, nothing but singles but with slightly bigger jumps.

It was a phenomenal show all round, with some very entertaining chat to go with the ridiculous lifting. The 190 snatch was particularly impressive given that he's not training the snatch any more. He had only been planning on doing 175 which would have been the biggest snatch ever on Scottish soil. However he had said to someone before the show that he thought he could probably still do 190. The announcer then brought this up at the end of the show and despite obviously being a bit unsure about it he gave it a go with the encouragement of the crowd. The atmosphere at this point was electric! And it was done after the jerk, deadlift and squat!

Unfortunately the videos and pictures don't capture the size of the guy very well. He is absolutely massive. The room was full of large powerlifters/strongmen/oly lifters and Misha made everyone else look like a light weight. The thing people seemed to appreciate the most other than the lifting was just what a ridiculously nice person he is. By the end of the performance I think everyone's face was just fixed in a massive grin. You just could help it though, his personality combined with the spectacular lifting display was infectious. Fantastic event all round.
