is there any interest in learning the front split, cause I teached it myself - again - in the last 12 weeks or so. only 5 cm to go and it is comfy?

If at least three members would like to know - the how I did it - I will write something up!

As far as I can tell there is one ingredient I have never heard before... :D

I am interested.

I have been pursuing a side and front split for a while now, and while I am making progress, 12 weeks would be great!

I'm interested Peter. You're contributing a gold mine to this board with the Smolov write up and possibly this.

Yeah, I'd be interested in reading it. I've been trying to get my hip flexors to open up and making small but precious progress. I figure a front split would really open those suckers up.

Does it require alot of walking to develop a front split?

I suppose I could start hanging out at the Y walking on the treadmills with all the soccer moms. I'm sure there are a few divorcees there

"Secret" to splits:
1. Watch Bloodsport as an impressionable teenager and become fascinated with Van Damme's chair splits.
2. Enroll in local karate dojo.
3. Spend a lot of time stretching
3a. Including the old side splits machine.
4. Do side splits and front splits (both sides) after 3-4 months.

That's what I did. There's no magic.

out of interest, how old were you when you learned the splits?

I've spent 15 maybe 20 minutes stretching a day, walked like 3-4 hours with dog in Nike frees 3.0, after 2 and half week the shoes were done... but the shoes they were already age 2 or so...

although most days it was more like 10 minutes, that is only one run through the stretching sequence I figured out... at most!
