I'm unclear on the idea of protein allergy from eating the same protein sources all the time. Is this inevitable, common, or just possible? How does it manifest (symptoms)? Is it reversable?

I know the standard recommendation is to rotate protein sources, but I haven't heard consistent recommendations about time frames, ie eat chicken for a week, then eat beef for a week, whatever. Also, what about protein powders? If they're processed, do they still offer the potential for allergy development?

As with nearly everything in medicine and science food allergies/intolerances are a potentiality, not a certainty. Genetic and environmental variables are all players here. For example inadequate sleep raises systemic inflammation and disturbs digestion. This can leave larger, intact food particles available for uptake through the intestinal lumen. That may be the start of an allergy or autoimmunity:

In an ideal world I think a week of chicken followed by a week of fish followed by a week of beef etc. would be ideal from the standpoint of both mitigating potential allergies, but also to provide well rounded nutrition. Obviously modern living can make this challenging but an understanding of this concept can help guide smart food choices.

Does anyone practice this or tried it?
It makes sense, if i killed a Bison this morning id eat it for the next few days, i wouldnt go hunt a chicken for lunch.

I might try chicken mondays, beef tuesdays etc. Man in not looking forward to egg Wednesday(aka cool hand luke day!)

Looks like that issue of the Paleo diet newsletter is chargable, grrr.

A good diet is a varied diet. That applies to sources of protein the same as it does to everything else you eat.
