My coach tells me I"m very inconsistent with my jerks. Sometimes I drive it off my shoudlers and other times, I use all arms. I really can't feel the difference. When I'm training by myself, what are some cues I should look for? Besides, the tall jerk, what other drills can I do on my own?

thanks

Push presses will definitely develop your leg drive. I don't see why your coach is talking about shoulder/arm drive. That should be ALMOST NONEXISTENT.

Keep your grip loose until the bar leaves your shoulders and even then tighten it only enough to not drop the bar.

The speed of the change of direction at the top is probably the best indicator, although it won't necessarily be easy for you to notice small differences. But in any case, focus on changing directions as quickly as possible at the top rather than at the bottom of the dip and this will help encourage not only a big leg drive, but also a quick drive under with the arms.

If you can post some video, I'd probably be able to give you some more helpful info.

Has your coach not given you any help correcting it?

Thanks Greg for the advice. I always apprecite it. Yes, my coach has given me a lot of advice and drills. One is "dip and drive" drill and tall jerk. The problem is I just cant feel the "drive". I'll keep on practicing.

thanks always!
