My friends & I are entering our first meet in December at a local Crossfit facility. We are new to weightlifting and have been taking advantage of this site and Greg’s book with encouraging results. Given our limited time and experience, what cycle do you recommend we follow to prepare for the event? What are your thoughts on tapering?

Given the limited time and depending on what week in December it is I would suggest the Quick & Classic cycle. You can do this one exactly 4 weeks out and have the last day be the competition as the last week of that cycle is a taper to max out your snatch and clean and jerk on the last day.

yeah that would be a good choice if you're finishing up a cycle in the next couple weeks.
