When doing multiple repetitions, should I be making up for any missed reps? For example, todays workout called for 5 sets of 3 snatches. on the 4th set, the first rep was solid, but slow. I overcompensated on the 2nd rep by pulling the bar off of the ground way to fast, which put the bar out of position, so I lost it behind me. The 3rd rep was golden. I terminated the set at that point.
Should I have reset and gone for the 4th (3rd good) repetition?

I would not recommend doing that. I would simply take note and hit the next rep/set better, which you did.

I teach my clients not to miss. You did right by terminating the set. Misses happen but do not let them become habit. If you know there was a technical issue you can address than do it otherwise call it and move on. You get better at this the longer you train, takes time to know your body and even more your mind.

Thank you for the responses! Normally I don't have any misses with sub-maximal weights, which is why I had questions on how to proceed. I was actually a little bit peeved about the miss, and I've learned from the past that attempting extra reps when ticked off isn't a wise thing to do.

I'm going to have to agree with Javier on this one. Count the set and make a note that you missed the 2nd rep. Maybe if it's your last set then you could take an extra rep to make up for the miss but either way, you should count the set.

I used to have a terrible habit of doing extra reps and sets if I missed but I agree with others, less is more. I just used to get fatigued, angry and ingrained bad habits... Depending on where you're at in your lifting/programme a few misses and a few extra attempts occasionally should not do any harm, just use your judgment (as you have!)

Generally agreed with the above. In some cases, I will have a lifter repeat--only if it won't negatively affect anything else, and if I think it's needed mentally.
