Hey guys, I seen this cool move in the paper today, so I had to scan it and show it to you - I didn't think I could describe it well. They call it a
"powerclean". Looks like it would really work your muscles good! Do any of you do these? I was thinking of trying some but didn't want to take any chances before I got the go ahead (I don't want to look funny in the gym doing crazy exercises after all).

I saw some crappy clean and jerk photo demos in the NY Post or Daily News the other day.
Sh*tty power cleans are sweeping the nation!

Good that means as people f3*@ themselves up doing it wrong they will come to us to learn to do it the right way!

Actually, they'll probably say "Olympic lifting is dangerous" in the same way that "squats are dangerous" and they'll turn away from it. Poor coaching is only going to hurt the sport.

I agree to disagree with that, because a determined individual knows an idiot when they see them!

I know. At least she's working out instead of sitting in front of the television eating bon-bons. You've got to start somewhere. My first clean was 20 lbs or something...

I suppose so Yael, but for someone that is so incredible of an expert that they are featured in the newspaper, you would think they know something about proper deadlift form.

Yeah right. How many personal trainers don't know anything about proper deadlift form? And how many people featured in newspapers are really experts?

Wait wait I know the answer I know *jumps up and down with his hand up*

Oh this is one of those rhetorical things isn't it? D'oh..

LOL. But really my point is that it gets really boring talking about how much other people's workouts suck.

the last exercise is by far the best. was he in the bangles?

at least they're trying... i guess. obviously not trying that hard, though, come to think of it. how hard it is to google 'power clean' and get a million videos, at least 10 of which would demonstrate better technique than that. OK, I've revised my previous positivity. fuck that lady!

Good that means as people f3*@ themselves up doing it wrong they will come to us to learn to do it the right way!

People getting their fitness advice from a newspaper are highly unlikely to hurt themselves with their 10lb bar doing it any wrong way and will lose interest in a week anyways....the only thing worse is trainers who get their advice from a newspaper and try new things with their clients using 50lbs....
