Light aerobics to assist recovery rate in Masters weightlifters

They say the recovery rate drops as you get older and certainly when I was in my 30s and ambitiously lifting there were many twice a day sessions and the body used to recover pretty well. Now as I'm in my 50s the desire to work hard is still there but when experimenting with 7-8 sessions per week the progress stops completely. It appears that 3 per day is the order of the day for me now. One thought comes to mind and that is whether the recovery rate could be increased by doing light non-ballistic aerobics, the idea being that waste products in the muscles would be removed more quickly. When younger I wouldn't have entertained this but only being able to effectively do 3 sessions per week still seems lazy to me. Anyone got any thoughts on this please?

Hi All

Starting a training log here. A bit of back ground info: Used to be a jogger, liked half marathons. Started Kettlebell Lifting a few years ago (2008/09) when I joined the Fire Service and from there I got into crossfit. Boxed on that just under a year ago to focus on Oly Lifting after doing my CF Oly Cert with Coach B.

I wont pretend to know what I'm doing with my programming. I currently take the 5 day Cathletics training cycles and apply the program outlined in the 'The Simplest Olympic Weightlifting Program In The World' article. This is working out ok for me at the moment. I'd welcome any and all comments/advice/criticism. To be honest that's why I'm here.

I'll start with what I've done this week so far:

Monday 14/05/12

Snatch - 61.5kg x 2, 67kg x 2, 70kg x 2, 74.5kg x 1, 79kg x 1, 74.5kg x 1
Snatch pull - 79kg x 2, 83.5kg x 2, 87.5kg x 2
Front squat - 104kg x 2, 110.5kg x 1 x 2
Ring rows - 10 x 5
15kg Fatgrip DB holds - 60s, 35s, 31s

Tuesday 15/5/12

10min 16kg KB Core workout

Tabata DUs

Wednesday 16/05/12

Jerk - 77kg x 3, 82kg x 2, 87.5kg x 2, 92.5kg x 2 x 2
Jerk balance - 56.5kg x 3 x 3, 67kg x 3 x 2
Snatch balance - 57kg x 4 x 3
8kg DB reverse flys - 15 x 4

hello.i am 10 years olympic weightlifter.i have a major problem in front squat.i have stuck and i cant improve any more.my best front squat is 130 kgr for 8 months now.i believe the major problem is the core or upper back strength problem because when the load goes above 90% my upper back become kuphotic.a friend of mine told me to perform abs-lats exercise between squat sets to strengthen the core.also i read in the net that if the rhomboids and upper back muscles will be stronger this help in front squat,so i think to start face pulls and power raise for strengthen the rhomboids muscles.because i am little confused can you give me some advices to start a training program for core muscles?how often is ideal to train the core, with how many exercises and how many sets and reps?(i ask for these parametres because i dont want to overtrain)..i am looking forward to hearing for you...eg:also i have along femur and my somatotype isnt the best for squat
