Sore Tailbone from Pregnancy
 
My sister-in-law has a very sore tailbone which resulted from her pregnancy. Here is how she describes the situation:

"Being pregnant with Jack put strain on my muscles around my spine and caused my spine to curve to the left putting pressure on the nerves of my tailbone. According to my physical therapist, I'm supposed to be making my left side stronger to curve it back to the right a little bit."

What kind of exercises would help accomplish this? I've been trying to find something online and will flip through my books by McGill, but don't exactly know what I'm looking for.

I appreciate any ideas.

What did the PT say to do for this? Didn't he/she give you any exercises to work on?

Leg Extensions, Leg Curls, Shallow Lunges, and Squats - all with a resistance band

The PT would work both legs, but add extra reps for the left leg to build up those muscles more and get the spine off the tailbone nerves.

Sounds okay to me.

Depends on where the curvature is though I think... if it's like sacral and can be correct by leg/hips work then sure.

I'm not quite sure I understand the problem she's having, but it doesn't make sense to me to strengthen her legs when supposedly the issue is up in her spine, which is causing problems at her coccyx...

Yeah, I still find that to be really odd.

That's exactly where I'm at fellas. I'm having a hard time understanding the exact nature of the situation. I'm going to keep looking into it and see if I can get more info.
