Vitamin D - green stool?
On days when I know I didn't spend much time in the sun, I've been supplementing with 6000iu of Vitamin D (D3, Kirkland).
Whenever I do this, the next day, my bowel movements have a distinct greenish color to them. I feel fine, and they're otherwise the same as normal. I find some references to this with infants and Vit. D, but haven't seen it mentioned here or on other athletic/supplement sites. Is it just me? Can anyone point me toward a link maybe explaining what's happening? |
That's pretty odd. What do the infant sites say?
|
Are you taking it with food that has fat?
|
The infant sites say nothing helpful - only that it happens.
Sometimes just after eating dinner (usually chicken or beef and a salad these days), but sometimes later. I'm about to start a fish oil regimen - would 8-10g of fish oil taken at the same time as vit D be enough to help absorb the latter? |
Any type of fat.. so yes
|
If you are having a fat intolerance issue, taking 10g of fish oil will likely make the issue worse, not better.

For the last couple of days, I've been taking my Vit D with 12g of Kirkland Fish Oil. That seems to have stopped the green stool for now but I'm going to keep an eye on it.
