shenanigans
I sprained both my ankles kipping into a handstand on 24 hour fitness' bar dip bars consequently flipping, AND landing, but was it worth it...
... YES! |
were you in support and swung up into a handstand but didn't control it?
|
what is "in support"
no i definitely meant to do the flip and it was HELLA FUN, but i'm like 190 and am not a gymnast soooo my ankles kinda got jacked. i really really want to try the high bar with some foam underneath me. where do they have this set up? |

that is an l-sit. a support is just that but with the legs hanging straight down, like if you had parallel bars high up enough to where your legs could hang.
if you want to practice handstands on bars, use the things that guy has in the picture. they are called paralletes. here are some guides to making them yourself. i can't find the guide i used, but i assume that these are fine. http://www.westsideacademy.com/boysteam/buildit.php http://www.ehow.com/how_4717815_make...rallettes.html |
concering the high bar, you'd have to go to a gymnastics club to try that. most don't cater to adults, and they will not even talk with you about it. it's worth giving your local gymnastic clubs a call though.
some judo clubs may have a foam pit, but they probably wont' have a high bar |
That wasn't very smart...

Steven is being kind. I would have used stronger language.

true, but fun and smart don't always fall in the same category
|

looks like standing throws for today |
Dan,
Do you mind if I ask how old you are, and how many years you've been training? |
