Great post, that makes me want to buy his book.

I always thought people that considered calling themselves elite have some self esteem issues or inferiority complex and by resorting to labeling themselves superior to everyone else, they're filling in that void. That ego orientation is so lame. Then you look at the actual elite athletes, the guys about to set world records, they're the complete opposite, always task orientated, and trusting who they are as performers and as a separate person outside sport.

Read the article and thought it was good.

Dan John's book is good. I have alot of his DVDs on my xmas list.

I hear he doesn't have any squat....just kidding.

I blame the soccer moms. Everyone gets a trophy.

I remember being a kid at the end of a basketball season and everyone got a trophy. We hadn't actually won anything. "Participation trophies" are terrible. Everyone wants their kid to feel special and accomplished. I get that. But making them actually accomplish something before bestowing the crown isn't all bad.

Agree about the trophies. Just ordered the book, thanks for reminding me.
