This epic battle began when I read this post:
What are the thoughts out there. I'm in favor of agreeing with the author. I think you can't forego Sat. Fat. This comes from a dude that lifts heavy and drinks about two cans of coconut milk and shredded coconut throughout the day.
While I agree with Dr. Harris that it's sensible to avoid consuming excessive amounts of linoleic acid it is still an essential fatty acid and must therefore be provided by your diet. That is not the case with saturated fats for which there is no dietary requirement as they can be synthesised endogenously to meet demand.
