Coaching new lifter - need snatch advice

Hello!

This is a new lifter I have been coaching, she has been training consistently since May, I am hoping Greg or anybody who knows what they're looking at would provide a technique critique as I am unsure of where I should be focusing my attention?

Thanks for any help,

Tom

Brief answer and quick watch of the video because I'm on my phone, but 3 thing stand out immediately -

1. She needs to stay over the bar longer in the pull - to about mid to upper thigh.

2. She needs to stay flat footed longer in the pull.

3. She needs to pull under the bar w better mechanics to keep it closer, ie continue pushing it in and lift the elbows high and out.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Greg!

Would extending the legs for longer (lengthening the first pull) help her stay over longer? Are there any specific drills that you think would help? I'm guessing tall snatches for the pull under mechanics?

Cheers

Tom

Muscle snatch and tall snatch focusing on high elbows before she turns her arms over.

Hang or block snatches from mid upper thigh to get the feeling of the right balance and position, 3 position snatches, segment/pause snatches (pause at mid thigh), halting snatch deadlift both alone and as a complex w snatches, flat footed snatch pulls... All those will help in somewhat different ways.

Brilliant thanks Greg, what area would you say is priority at this stage?

If you had to chose one thing, it would be fixing the pull.
