Modifying Two-a-day Programs
Just finished a 12 week squat cycle, which oddly enough didn't put any more numbers on my front or back squat, but gave me loads of PRs elsewhere.
I'm looking at a lot of different programs for my next training cycle (Russian, Bulgarian, Classic, you know the deal). I really am going to prioritize the C&J on this next go around to refine my mechanics more.
The programs I am interested in are largely two a day programs, I don't have a problem with the volume or intensity, however, being a full time student makes it very difficult to get to bar twice a day for an hour and a half to two hours at a clip. Any suggestions on modifying that type of schedule?
It will be pretty tough to get through an entire twice-a-day cycle during school. You're more than likely going to have to make a dramatic change in your routine. Waking up at 4-5am to get the first one done before class and then fitting in the second one in after class or in the evening sometime.
Depending on how you feel, you may have to modify the intensity and just go with how you feel for each training session.
Essentially my schedule has full days of class three days out of the week, leaving me with two completely open days, plus weekend (unfortunately I do lose one weekend a month to the Army, so that would also bring forward some modification). I guess realistically now that I'm thinking about it I should pick the day with the least amount of classes to be the one day that I have class and lifting to get done. And lets put coaching on top of this because I don't like to be board haha.
