Recently, I stepped up to a 36kg KB for swings and snatches. During say 1 min intervals, I have to rest half way thru. When I am snatching/swinging the 24kg Bell, I do not need to rest. I am resting because I am mixing the swings/snatches in with other Met-con type drills (ie. med ball cleans, pull-ups, etc) for 30-40 mins.
So....Which is better? Continue using the 36KG with breaks in between or use the 24KG for the continuous interval?
Are you doing 1 minute of swings then 1 minute of snatches? Or are you doing 1 swing then 1 snatch for a minute, then you rest a minute?
Both are acceptable. I would mix it up. There is a huge difference between those weights. You could do 24kg snatches and 36kg swings? I always swing heavier than I snatch.
36kg is heavy for snatches when you are doing them in a circuit...So, there may come a point where it isn't safe to take the bell overhead.
