Excellent suggestion, Allen. Based on your suggestion, I'll likely start doing 1 round of Tabata squats as part of my weekend metcons.
For anyone who is interested here is how I progressed on them previously:
Started at 10 reps per round, "normal" style, taking the extra rest
Advanced by one rep per round per Tabata workout (ie. second time was 11 reps/round)
Got up to 16 per round
Would have started the progression over once 20 reps per round was reached by changing into B2B Tabata squats (that's a loooong time at the bottom with only 10 reps at the start...), yet stopped doing them due to poor programming on my part.
Anyway, it was working for me, and the progressions helped avoid the loathing that comes with all-out Tabata intervals, so I was able to do them on a more regular basis.
I'll have to plan my Tabatas out so that I don't ruin my legs for dancing at the wedding reception I'm traveling to...I have a reputation to uphold!
