You're joking, but a medicine woman told me she doesn't use valerian for the same reason.

If you enjoy weird dreams, try the 1st-gen antihistamine (now available OTC) called chlotrimeton. Not recommending it, exactly, (there are better antihistamines, both natural and man-made), but it always left me with really weird dreams.
