BJJ Blue Belt Requirements

I decided to purchase it after reading Yael's review and Derek's thoughts here.

Got my copy today and watched instead of going to practice because I am sick and don't want to spread my germs. I have missed every class this week due to travel (where I acquired the lung-butter-producing syndrome)and sickness, so the DVD came at the perfect time.

As Derek mentioned, it is a must for newbies, methinks. I am fortunate to have purchased it at the beginning of my BJJ travels, so I will work to implement the fundamentals next class. Unfortunately, my school does not have a beginners class, so I don't have time to drill techniques into muscle memory before trying to perform while defending. This should help because I can watch it multiple times to map it in my brain.

In short, I think it is worth every penny.

Alan, I know that when we have new guys that are grappling I will quite often ask them if they want to just drill instead of actually grappling. Maybe during one of the grappling sessions you could ask a partner to drill the moves with you or come in early or stay after and work on them.

Nothing beats drilling. I am going to class today just for that reason. Like I said in my log I am competing tomorrow so I won't grapple today at all but just drillijng the movements makes me so much more confident.
