That was a great article, I'd like to learn more about the subject, only in the last few months have I really really started paying attention to this subject. Very well written and it seems to me well thought out but I am admittedly not well educated in this field.

Now what chance does any of this article have of being implemented by any political figure especially since it would piss a lot of people with $$$ off?

I'm looking into a CSA now for next year.

Nice article... Pollan (as usual) has some great insights.

The Fattening of America, by Eric Finkelstein, explores some similar themes, particularly the role of economics in creating the obesity epidemic.

His basic premise is that our economic success is responsible for our weight problem. High-calorie foods have become increasingly cheaper and our reliance on labor-saving devices have caused to become less active, leading to a doubling in obesity rates.

This book also echoes some of the ideas that Taubes outlines in Good Calories, Bad Calories, in that the foods that Finkelstein believes are largely responsible for our weight issues are the same ones that Taubes indicts in GC, BC.
